(Brawley Police Department to be checking for DUI"s)....They will be conducting a DUI Checkpoint Friday Night, from 8 pm to 12 mid-night.

They are not revealing the location. The Department says DUI Checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-relate crashes. They say the primary purpose of a DUI Checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road. They remind drivers that impaired driving is not just rom alcohol. Some prescription medications and over the counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is not. Funding for the program was provided by a grant from the Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program, through the California Highway Patrol
