(The 18th annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony)....It will be held May 1st.
The ceremony pays tribute to the 49 Imperial Valley officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Once again, the ceremony will be held at the steps of the Imperial County Court house, 939 West Main Street in El Centro. This year's ceremony will include a motorcycle procession that will assemble at the courthouse at 6:45 pm. Guest speakers will begin the ceremony promptly at 7 pm. That will be followed by the reading of the names of each fallen officer, a 21-gun salute, a flag folding ceremony, taps and Amazing Grace, and a moment of silence where glow sticks will be lit to represent a candlelight vigil. At their meeting April 28th, the County Board of Supervisors will proclaim May 1st as Imperial Valley Law Enforcement Memorial Day.
