Two men died when their cars collided head on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on State Route 98 west of Mt. Signal Road. An eastbound car driven by a 34-year-old man collided head on with a westbound car driven by a 25-year-old man. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the eastbound car, a 34-year-old woman, sustained major injuries and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center by REACH Air Ambulance. Both the driver and passenger in the eastbound car were restrained but the driver of the other car was not. The California Highway Patrol says the investigation is ongoing.
