The Department of Homeland Security and U. S. Customs and Border Protection announced the lowest number of Border patrol apprehensions since 1970.
Preliminary enforcement numbers for September 2025, closing out Fiscal Year 2025, show that Southwest Border apprehensions were 237,565, the lowest fiscal year total in 55 years, 87 percent below the average of the last four fiscal years. Daily apprehensions along the Southwest Border were 279 per day in September, 95 per cent lower than the daily average from February 2021 through December 2024.
