The California Highway Patrol recently graduated 148 new officers. Three of the new officers are from the Imperial Valley.
Jerrek Hurtado, a 2013 graduate of Brawley Union High School, recently worked as a state trooper for the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Hurtado is assigned to duty at the CHP's West Los Angeles Area office.
Santos Alvarez, a 2018 graduate of Imperial High School, is assigned to duty at the CHP Needles Area office, Officer Alvarez's' uncle is currently a Sergeant assigned to the El Centro office.
Angel Lopez of El Centro is assigned to duty at the CHP's Santa Fe Springs Area office. Officer Lopez is a 2021 graduate of Southwest High School in El Centro and has an associates degree in Administration of Criminal Justice from Imperial Valley College.
