There is a record number of Border Patrol agents.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 21,471 Border Patrol agents, the highest staffing level in the history of the Border Patrol, are serving. CBP received record funding last year and has launched recruitment programs to increase the ranks. The target is 25,000 agents. Incentives of up to $60,000 for new agents is just of the recruiting tools CBP has available.
