(The Groundbreaking is for the Heber Townsite Improvements Paving project)...The County, in partnership with the Assembly Bill AB 617 Community Steering Committee of the Calexico-Heber-El Centro Corridor and the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District are hosting the groundbreaking.

The ceremony starts phase 2 of the project. The Imperial County Department of Public Works was awarded nearly $2.5 million to pave approximately 56,440 square feet of unpaved roadway shoulders north of highway 86, between Heber Avenue and Heffernan Avenue. The project is designed to reduce emissions from fugitive dust caused by vehicle use on unpaved shoulders and will also introduce new sidewalks to improve pedestrian and commuter safety. The Groundbreaking ceremony will be held Thursday, February 26, at 9 am. It will be at the intersection of 7th Street and Heffernan Avenue.
