(The 79th Annual Holtville Carrot Festival)....It is currently underway, with Cooking contests.

This Saturday the Festival will feature Mariachi Night. The event will be held at Holt Park, near the Chamber of Commerce office. Officials say it promises to be a cultural cornerstone for the annual festival. The event begins at 3 pm with Mariachi Orgullo Nacional and BUHS Folklorico. At 4 pm it will be soloist Santi Alvarez. The main event starts at 5 pm and features Mariachi Acero del Valle and Las Flores del Valle. The event will offer a classic festival experience with food, beer, clamatos and folklorico dancing. Preceding the Mariachi night is the Carrot Festival Parade. The City has changed the rules on setting up chairs to view the parade. On Friday, no chairs can be set up along the parade rout before 6 pm. On the Day of the parade, no chairs can be set up along the south side of fifth street before 6 am. And the use of chains, rope or tape to reserve seating areas is strictly forbidden. The parade starts at 10 am Saturday.
