Imperial County will benefit from a part of $1 billion allocated for transit projects.
The money was approved by the California Transportation Commission and includes funds from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act od 2022 and the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, California SB1. In Imperial County $3.75 million has been allocated for improvements on State Route 98 near Calexico. The money will rehabilitate pavement by grinding and overlaying with Hot Mix Asphalt, upgrade lighting and traffic signals, replace sign panels, and upgrade facilities to Americans with Disabilities act standards. An additional $152,000 will go to the Imperial County Transportation Commission for Western Avenue pedestrian improvements from State Route 86 to Main Street in the City of Brawley.
