California Highway Patrol releases details of a collision that took 3 lives)......The collision occurred Monday evening.
It was a multi-vehicle collision. The CHP says a 2007 Lincoln MKZ was traveling Northbound on Highway 111, north of McCabe Road in moderate traffic. For undetermined reasons, the driver of the Lincoln veered to the left. The vehicle traveled through the dirt center median and into the southbound lanes of Highway 111. As a result, the Lincoln collided with a 2020 Nissan Rogue which was traveling southbound. After this collision, a 2021 Honda Accord, traveling southbound on the Highway, also collided with the Lincoln. As a result, the 50-year-old male driver of the Lincoln, from El Centro, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and right front passenger of the Nissan, a 57-year-old female from El Centro and 51-year-old female from Calexico, also succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced at the scene. The driver and passenger in the Honda suffered minor injuries. The CHP says the collision investigation is continuing.
