A woman was seriously injured when struck by a car Monday night.

The accident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. in the area of South Avenue 5E and East County 91/2 Street in Yuma County. According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, the woman was walking southbound on the roadway when she was struck from behind. The victim was taken to Onvida Health with serious injuries. The case remains under investigation. Impairment and speed do not appear to be factors according to YCSO.
