(Major upgrade project)....The Imperial Irrigation District, California's 3rd largest public utility, celebrated the completion of a major upgrade project.
It was at their main substation in Westmorland. The upgrade enhances the energy system reliability and resiliency to serve its power customers long into the future. The $1.7 million investment in the project is part of the IID's overall Powering Our Community Together initiative, in which more than 270 projects are planned during the next 15 years to modernize critical power infrastructure and enhance grid reliability and energy operations. District one Director Alex Cardenas said the major improvements in Westmorland will boost system reliability, increase operational flexibility, and support long-term stability of the electrical network to better serve IID customers. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held recently to mark the completion of the project.
