( Desert Knights Imperial Valley Public Safety Gala)...The inaugural Gala was held last Friday.

It was held at the Casa De Manana Building on the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds. They recognized public safety personnel from Imperial County. The recipients of the Officer of the Year Award included; Esteban Hernandez, Firefighter/Paramedic with the Calexico Fire Department, Yamilet Venegas, officer with the Calexico Police Department, Eloy Martinez, Captain with the Brawley Fire Department, Javier Martinez, agent with the Brawley Police Department, Adam Avila, fire captain with the El Centro Fire Department, Carmen Fierro, officer with the Imperial Police Department, John Robles, firefighter with the Holtville Fire Department, Pedro Velasquez Jr,, senior deputy, Imperial County Sheriff's Office, Salvador Acevedo Jr.. Officer California Highway Patrol, and Daniel Chin, US Customs and Border Protection.
